SELKIE Comic archival print
The fourth in my faux-comic series, this piece features a vengeful Selkie who has killed a seal hunter with his own hakapik and chewed off his head. Sometimes referred to as ‘the Celtic mermaid,’ Selkies are shapeshifters who can take human or seal form and are generally good natured until they are crossed. My interpretation is a young, half-transformed selkie surrounded by his seal kin. As Selkie mythology is most common in Northern Ireland and Scotland, he has red hair and freckles that echo the spots on grey seals.
The paper size is 11” x 14”, with the cover sized to the dimensions of a vintage comic book. This is a high-quality archival print on thick stock with all original artwork.
